Our story
A single hearth, a corner storefront, and a stubborn belief that the best meals are cooked slowly and shared generously.
A table set close to the fire.
Ember & Oak began as a single hearth in a converted corner storefront, where our founders learned that the best meals are the ones cooked slowly and shared generously. Everything still passes over live oak before it reaches your plate.
We source from growers we know by name, press our own oils, and bake bread each morning before the doors open. The room is small on purpose: close tables, low light, and conversation that carries from one to the next.
Nearly three decades on, the fire has not gone out. New hands tend it now, but the recipe is the same: good ingredients, open flame, and time.
Built for lingering.
Low light, worn oak and a fireplace that runs the length of the wall. We kept the room small so that no table feels far from the fire, and no evening feels rushed.
Come as two for a quiet dinner or take the long table with friends. Either way, you will leave a little warmer than you arrived.
The fire does the talking. Every plate tastes of oak and patience, and the room feels like it has been waiting for you all week.
Portland Table, a regular since the first winter
Come sit by the fire.
The best way to know us is to join us for an evening. Reserve a table and we will have the hearth glowing.
